General Question

Iron consumption unfortunately can cause constipation.

The hormones of pregnancy especially progesterone make it difficult for food to pass through the digestive tract. It means the body uses more nutrients but it also means constipation.


- The uterus is also pressing on the colon and rectum.
- Don’t hold for long. Go to the loo as soon as you feel the urge.
- Walk, swim or exercise at least half to an hour a day.
- Drink plenty to keep the bowel soft.
- Eat more fruit and vegetables. Fibers help to keep the bowel soft.
- Some fruits help to soften the stool more than others. Such as pawpaw, and prunes.

Fatigue and weakness might be a signal of a lack of magnesium.

- Cut back on refined food
- Boost your magnesium intake
- Have a balanced diet with greens, bananas, milk, nuts, and whole grains.
- Rest

Nausea affects most pregnant women from six weeks. At times only in the morning, other times all day.


- Eat small meals but more frequently.
- Ginger really works wonders- cut small pieces, boil in water and add some honey or glucose to drink as tea.
- Sip water to avoid dehydration from vomiting
